Do You Just Love Doing Drone Photography? Here Are Some Top Industries To Consider For Drone Jobs

Turning your hobby into a career is something we all dream of doing. In the case of people who love drone photography, this possibility is becoming more and more of a reality. And, it’s not just drone photography careers that are opening up; opportunities for drone jobs in engineering, sales and project management are also arising more frequently.
Of course, the job of a drone pilot is one of the most sought after, and these opportunities are on the increase. Much of the work offered to pilots is on a freelance basis, however many full-time jobs can also be found.
Read on to discover which industries are offering full time roles for drone pilots (US or CAN), drone photography and other drone jobs.

Agriculture

A career in agriculture may have seemed like the last thing on the mind of a tech-savvy drone enthusiast. However, farmers are one of the largest groups to use drones for commercial purposes. Drones can be used to monitor remote areas of pasture, to check crops over a large area, and even as crop-sprayer. Farmers have plenty to do around the farm without having to be a drone pilot or do some drone photography too. They’re much more likely to hire someone for this.

Photography

How we take photographs has changed remarkably since the popularity of drones ‘took-off’. Drone photography allows you to capture images previously only accessible to film or documentary production crews. Every event organizer wants to catch the event from the bird’s-eye-view, so having skills in drone photography can open up lots of employment opportunities.

Real Estate

The competition to sell real estate means that realtors are looking for that perfect arial shot of the property to help clinch the deal. The amount of houses and properties that realtors list every week means there is plenty of opportunities for freelance or full time drone jobs.

Government & Military

Drones are used for a variety of government work; monitoring borders and remote facilities for instance without the need for someone’s physical presence. Drone jobs are also widely available in the military; for piloting unmanned aircraft and intelligence gathering.

Construction Industry

The construction industry is another, maybe surprising, sector that benefits from drone jobs and drone photography. Checking and monitoring of construction progress by drone can save money. Getting a drone to check for a fault at the top of a pylon before an engineer climbs, can also reduce the risk of accident. Many construction crews have full-time drone jobs while others hire as required.

Law Enforcement

Drone jobs are available in law enforcement too. Police surveillance operations often need drone photography as evidence. Drones can also be used in the less exciting task of traffic monitoring; freeing up valuable police officers to solve crimes. Law enforcement drones are often fitted with top-spec cameras and real-time video transmission capabilities. If using your drone skills to protect and serve is appealing, this could be the drone job for you.

Summary

Whether you want to be a ‘Top Gun’ drone pilot; have a passion for drone photography; or want to use your drone skills to fight crime; there are plenty of drone jobs out there waiting to be filled.

Nicholas Blake

It all started years ago when I was flying my RC Plane in the fields behind my house. As time went through and drones came out I tried flying my friends drone and that was it. I got addicted on the flying capabilities of the drones and their easy maneuverability. That day hobby became passion.
